Hotel Kolm Õde has a summer courtyard!

A summer terrace is nothing new in Tallinn. With fine weather, tables could be set even on the driveway. Food and cars is, however, a very poor match.

A car-free courtyard is a whole different matter. Especially in the Old Town. So, when passing the hotel Kolm Õde check whether the gate to the courtyard is open. If it is the case, do not hesitate to step in. The prices are no longer frightening but rather alluring there.

The courtyard with the tables covered with white tablecloths, home-made spritzer, sangria and numerous wines that are served by glass appears as a different world.

The new chef Riho Heinmets has brought significant changes to the house. The prices have gone down; the food, however, has considerably improved. In the hotel, all dishes are available in half-size portions, enabling one to taste anything you like and as much of it as you like.

Riho is not averse to grilling in the yard himself and serving the customers right there. He is also one of the few chefs in Estonia who has worked at a top restaurant of the world. A year of working at Fat Duck near London has given him the experience and skills that now make it possible to visit Kolm Õde without having to pay through the nose there.

The dishes are simple by name, appearance as well as taste. Simple does not mean that everyone who puts chicken on a stick achieves the same result. Far from it! Domestic grill-masters should go there and take a look. There is a lot to learn and Riho is eager to pass on his knowledge.

See the yard menu of the restaurant here.

The dessert called Mari is another example of simple, yet marvellous food. Different available Estonian summer berries are rubbed to a jam with sugar. A slice of toast is soaked in it. Home-made ice-cream and some berries for decoration added...

TOP 50 OF ESTONIAN RESTAURANTS

This ranking is born out of the votes of the key employees of various Estonian restaurants. Each voter compiles a personal list of 7 restaurants that he or she thinks are the best in Estonia. The voters must have visited these places and the list cannot include the voters’ employers or restaurants related to their personal property.

The restaurants that have been included in someone’s top 7 are invited to cast their votes as well. Each restaurant can appoint up to three of their most important employees as their voters: one member from the management team, one member from the kitchen staff and one member from the service staff.

Taking part in the voting is strictly voluntary, not obligatory. The top 50 of Estonian restaurants is made up of restaurants that win the greatest number of votes.
