Vertigo Gourmet

The once fancy restaurant Vertigo, which had risen to the heavens within Tallinn, has come back down to earth. There were times when the dishes of Vertigo were a privilege for a select few, but now they are available for all.

There is a glass door in Tallinn right by the Viru Gates. If it is open, do not just pass by, because there you will find the tiny shop and café Vertigo.

Imre Kose has experienced absolutely everything a chef can experience in Estonia. The rather logical next step is – product development.

Here, Imre is bringing the freshest fruits of his development to the shop. He used to prepare regular food in an unusual way at his restaurant. Now, he develops products the same way.

“The longest black breads in the world,” he introduces his breads. Good taste is nothing if the product is not appealing visually.
The products of Vertigo are slowly beginning to appear on the shelves of the best supermarkets. It is still worth your while to step by their own shop in Tallinn, since at least 1/3 of all the products of Vertigo are only sold there.
Even though the shop is tiny, one cannot complain about the selection.
The packages are nice and the content delicious.
In the middle of this shelf is Caesar salad dressing. This is how the whole own production begun. Because it was so delicious that people demanded jars of it to go from the restaurant.
The “average” price of the products of Vertigo is € 2. The cheapest is the kama and hazelnut truffle (€ 0.60) and the most expensive the champagne Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame – € 207.

Do they drink champagne here? They do and how...
Even though there are a few seats, they are usually occupied quickly.

The Boston raisin rolls (€ 2.30) and cappuccino (€ 2.40) are delicious.
The popular daily soups are different every day but always cost € 1.90, and a bun on the side € 0.20. The soup can be eaten on the spot or bought to go.
Lavender tartlets (€ 1.80/piece), Tuscany and Provence together in one shortcrust pastry basket.

TOP 50 OF ESTONIAN RESTAURANTS

This ranking is born out of the votes of the key employees of various Estonian restaurants. Each voter compiles a personal list of 7 restaurants that he or she thinks are the best in Estonia. The voters must have visited these places and the list cannot include the voters’ employers or restaurants related to their personal property.

The restaurants that have been included in someone’s top 7 are invited to cast their votes as well. Each restaurant can appoint up to three of their most important employees as their voters: one member from the management team, one member from the kitchen staff and one member from the service staff.

Taking part in the voting is strictly voluntary, not obligatory. The top 50 of Estonian restaurants is made up of restaurants that win the greatest number of votes.
