Grotesk

Grotesk is a memorable restaurant. Apart from the good food, it is also hard to forget the most striking design elements of the restaurant – the ceiling lamps.

Restaurant Grotesk
Ludviginkatu 10, Helsinki

Grotesk is naturally visited because of its kitchen. What goes on in the kitchen can be observed “from the front row” from one of the few chef’s tables found in Helsinki. Mostly, people with a special interest in food are seated at this table. They are rewarded with special food. Not the food eaten by other guests of the restaurant.
But those sitting at other tables have nothing to complain about either. The flavour combinations of the dishes of Grotesk are fresh and pure and, in case of some dishes, as dramatic as the colour combinations dominating the interior design of the restaurant.
And here they are, the satisfied visitors. Even though there are a large number of seats in the hall, it is usually difficult to find any vacancies.
Why would they not be satisfied when the menu includes such colourful dishes full of flavours? Cold smoked salmon with dill brioche and cucumber costs € 14.30. The prices of appetizers range from € 12.50–16.40.

Grotesk has a bizarre relationship with the number five. There are 5 appetizers, 5 entrees and 5 desserts in each menu. The menu itself changes five times a year.
Duck chest with spring vegetables. The prices of entrees range from € 22–27.70. In the evenings, most prefer to order Grotesk’s surprise menu of the day. It consists of three to six dishes for the price of € 43–62. It is also possible to request a package of matched wines for € 30–50 on the side.
Lemon pie with elderflower sorbet (€ 9.90). The prices of desserts range from € 9.90–11.
If you see this light, you are in the right place. You are at Grotesk.

TOP 50 OF ESTONIAN RESTAURANTS

This ranking is born out of the votes of the key employees of various Estonian restaurants. Each voter compiles a personal list of 7 restaurants that he or she thinks are the best in Estonia. The voters must have visited these places and the list cannot include the voters’ employers or restaurants related to their personal property.

The restaurants that have been included in someone’s top 7 are invited to cast their votes as well. Each restaurant can appoint up to three of their most important employees as their voters: one member from the management team, one member from the kitchen staff and one member from the service staff.

Taking part in the voting is strictly voluntary, not obligatory. The top 50 of Estonian restaurants is made up of restaurants that win the greatest number of votes.
