When were you last at your grandmother's place?
You don't have a grandmother? It is not true, everybody has a grandmother! She welcomes you at Rataskaevu 10/12 in Tallinn every day. You can enter her dining room on the basement floor through a low archway. And her table is always laid.
As all the grandmothers, she has also remained loyal to her own times. This music from '70s that she is listening is unfamiliar to her grandchildren. This is why it is nice to be at Grandmother's Place. It feels as if you were traveling back in time.
Of course, she does not have the heart to throw away the old furniture. You can hear only a rustling sound from the TV set and the radio, but she does not watch or listen to them so much anyway.
Through decades a lot of memories have come together at Grandmother's Place. Every chair, and table, cupboard and picture on the wall has its own story to tell.
The furnishings and service at Grandmother's Place are so true that you might easily forget that it is not the real grandmother but the restaurant at Grandmother's Place.
This is the food that all of us have had at our grandmother's place. Every grandmother has her own method for preparing it but the taste is nostalgic and recognizable.
Modern trends in cooking don't find their way to Grandmother's Place. Meat, sauce and potatoes are her everyday specialty. A square meal for hungry children and grandchildren. This is how the grandmothers are – always there when most needed.
