A Year of Comebacks

In none of the six years that the 50 best Estonian restaurants have been selected have so many restaurants made their way back into the table. Four restaurants that have also been included in the table before are back. One circle of the developmental spiral is becoming complete. Ultramodern cooking is once again making way for classic food based on traditions. All the new restaurants that made a comeback as well as the eight newcomers are representatives of classic cuisine.

However, you cannot come back without moving forward first. Everyone can make good food now. But a successful restaurant can also create a mood and offer experiences. “Classic" is not a slogan, ten years of unchanged meals is not an argument. Dusty memories will be left under dust, because traditional cooking is now done in a novel way, not an ancient one.

At the moment, the table lists the restaurants alphabetically, the ranking will be added in autumn.
(C – a restaurant that has made a comeback, N – a new restaurant in the table.)

TOP 50 OF ESTONIAN RESTAURANTS

This ranking is born out of the votes of the key employees of various Estonian restaurants. Each voter compiles a personal list of 7 restaurants that he or she thinks are the best in Estonia. The voters must have visited these places and the list cannot include the voters’ employers or restaurants related to their personal property.

The restaurants that have been included in someone’s top 7 are invited to cast their votes as well. Each restaurant can appoint up to three of their most important employees as their voters: one member from the management team, one member from the kitchen staff and one member from the service staff.

Taking part in the voting is strictly voluntary, not obligatory. The top 50 of Estonian restaurants is made up of restaurants that win the greatest number of votes.
