The restaurant at Alatskivi Castle keeps history alive
Alatskivi is a castle with a colourful history – has always been and still is. It suits the history of the castle that the dishes served in this house come in three varieties: manor cuisine, Estonian cuisine and Scottish cuisine. The common denominator is a rustic streak.
The raw materials are as local as possible. First and foremost, people come here to eat chop and pike-perch from Lake Peipus, but they are also curious about other dishes. The dessert Scottish Surprise gives them the most to talk about.
Cheese has been made and cattle have been raised at Alatskivi Castle, and good food has always been honoured. Maybe the day will come when we get homemade Alatskivi cheese once again.
